Homeless Tennis

Daily Photo 11 May 2011 | 1 Comment

I saw this homeless guy playing tennis against the wall of a Vons grocery store, he was actually pretty good. Especially considering how old he looked he could move around rather quickly. As sad as the homeless situation is in my community it struck me that this guy was putting his current circumstances aside to play. Sometimes we get so caught up our lives that we forget to break away and have some fun. There have been studies that show during great hardship having a form of entertainment and escape is not only desirable but healthy for our psychological health. I’m not sure as to the reason this guy was playing tennis but he looked happy doing it, that was until he saw me taking a photo of him, then he flipped me off, sadly I didn’t get a picture of that.

We need to entertain ourselves even during our darkest or busiest times, we just need to ensure we don’t escape forever.

Side note: If you read my blog via RSS or email the photos are not showing up, you’ll need to head to the site to see them. I’m working on fixing it.
